Aaliyah Bland

September 27, 2019

Aaliyah Bland spent her childhood and most of her adolescence in Hawaii, where she graduated from James Campbell High School. Originally, she had no plans to pursue education beyond high school, but she began wanting more out of life.

“If you want something, you have to work hard for it, and Job Corps can help you do that,” Aaliyah said. “The primary reason I started looking into Job Corps is that I was tired of sitting at home and doing nothing with my life. I had been content to just let my life go by, but I knew that I had more potential than that.”

While at Job Corps, Aaliyah trained in health care, where she found out that helping others is a passion of hers. During her training, she obtained Nursing Assistant, HIPAA, CPR/First Aid, and ServSafe credentials.

Since graduating from Blue Ridge, Aaliyah has been working as a nursing assistant at Battlefield Park Healthcare Center in Petersburg, Va. She plans to further her education and become a registered nurse.
