After graduating from Manchester High School, Asia Reeves wasn’t quite sure what to do next. Her mother, who had graduated from Blue Ridge Job Corps Center, told Asia about the program. She knew it was the best next step for her to have a successful career.
While at Blue Ridge, Asia earned credentials in Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Certified Phlebotomy Technician, Electrocardiogram Technician, HIPAA, First Aid, CPR, and Career Readiness. She then entered the Licensed Practical Nurse Advanced Training program and graduated on Jan. 3, 2016.
After completing Job Corps, Asia accepted a position as a licensed practical nurse at Carrington Place in Rural Retreat, Va., and Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, Va. She plans to enroll in the registered nurse program at Virginia Highlands Community College in 2018 to eventually become a nurse oncologist.
