Before enrolling in Job Corps, Cordell Lindsley was a 2014 high school graduate from Glenville High School. When he turned 19, Cordell decided to enroll in community college to obtain a degree in international business. He was living with his mom and working at both Marshall’s and Walmart. Unfortunately, it was hard for him to balance all three things, and he ended up dropping out of college.
His sister Tamara Lindsley, a former State-Tested Nursing Assistant student of Cleveland Job Corps, convinced him that Job Corps was a great program, so he enrolled. Cordell obtained certifications in Clinical Medical Assistant, ServSafe, First Aid, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
“I’ve grown in many ways, especially trusting and believing in myself. And being patient was my biggest challenge,” Cordell said.
Cordell is working at University Hospital as a Nutrition Service Assistant II and strives to advance in his new position. He plans to enroll in college to get his degree.
