Danasia Nunn was a high school dropout who said she didn’t have direction for her life. After being kicked out of her home, Danasia decided to look into Job Corps. On Aug. 27, 2018, Danasia came to the Cleveland Job Corps Center seeking a better life.
“Cleveland Job Corps has taken me off the streets,” Danasia said. “The program has changed my life.”
In less than a year, Danasia graduated with her high school diploma from Penn Foster, as well as Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aide, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, First Aid, and ServSafe credentials. She says her greatest challenge was overcoming her poor attitude; but with the help of the staff, her outlook on life has positively changed.
Danasia, a proud Cleveland native, now works at Excel as a home health aide with aspirations of becoming a pediatrician. She plans to attend Cuyahoga Community College Tri-C to complete her prerequisites before transferring to a 4-year college.
Danasia advises students to stay focused and never to give up. “You’ll never know how far you’ll get in life if you give up on yourself prematurely.”
