When Manny Lopez was 18, higher education wasn’t an ideal path for him. So, after completing high school, he decided to pursue job training through Job Corps.
While at the Cassadaga center, Manny trained in the Electrical and the Security and Protective Services programs, and became a student residential advisor. He also served as a leader and helped other students develop their training skills.
After completing his training at Cassadaga Job Corps, Manny decided he wanted to earn an Advanced Manufacturing Associate Degree. With the help of his instructors, he was accepted into Manchester Community College’s AMT & Robotics program through the New Hampshire Job Corps.
During his time at community college, Manny was introduced to DEKA Research; and when he was reintroduced to DEKA through its founder and president Dean Kamen at his Job Corps graduation, he was encouraged to send over his resume. Manny received a job offer two weeks later.
And it all started with Job Corps. “I could not have done it without Job Corps,” Manny said. “I am so grateful for the opportunity Job Corps gave me.”
