Down on her luck and lacking clarity for her future, Mekayla Gresham was homeless and encountering countless dead ends. That was until she saw an advertisement for Job Corps on television. Job Corps offered Mekayla a safe place to live, free meals and career training, and ultimately, a community.
Mekayla enrolled at Brunswick Job Corps and first trained in the Clinical Medical Assistant program. After she finished her training, she was accepted into the Licensed Practical Nurse program at Denison Job Corps.
She also took advantage of Job Corps’ partnership with community colleges and began attending classes at Western Iowa Community College. Today she is a registered nurse, working in long-term care and labor and delivery.
