In addition to earning her high school diploma and completing two training areas at Job Corps, it was there that Quanise Chatman discovered her passion for volunteering.
Quanise graduated from the Blue Ridge Job Corps Center on May 29, 2014, having gone through the Certified Nurse Assistant and Medical Office Support programs.
She then worked as a nursing assistant for three years and loved it, before deciding to continue her education in hopes of earning a higher salary. This led her to take dental assistant courses, and she is now a full-time dental assistant at Virginia Family Dentistry in Richmond, Virginia.
True to her volunteer spirit, Quanise often spends her free time assisting with the “Backpack for Love” program that provides food for children in her community to take home on the weekend, ensuring they will have meals until they return to school each Monday. Quanise hopes to continue her higher education to become a registered nurse, specializing in labor and delivery.
“I have reached a point where I am dreaming brighter than ever before, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds,” she said.
