After graduating from high school in Willoughby, Ohio, Samantha B. moved to Florida to find a job. She struggled to make a living and decided to move back to Ohio only to find herself living in poverty. Looking for a way to launch her career, Samantha enrolled in the Job Corps program.
“Before enrolling in the Cleveland Job Corps, my life was going downhill fast,” she said. “I knew I needed help to become employable or I would never get out of poverty and homelessness.”
While at Job Corps, Samantha completed the Medical Assistant program and earned her Electrocardiogram Technician, Phlebotomist Technician, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Clinical Medical Assistant, and ServSafe certifications. She also completed an internship at the Centers for Dialysis Care and served on the center’s Student Government Association. After graduating from Job Corps, she accepted a job with the Centers for Dialysis Care as a dialysis technician.
“The program taught me the skills to perform my job efficiently and turned me into a leader, responsible citizen, and employee,” Samantha said. “Job Corps changed my life in ways I didn’t expect. Being able to say I completed the program has boosted my confidence.”
