Skyler Fusso left his home in St. Paul, Minn., to attend Treasure Island Job Corps Center’s Culinary Arts program. Upon graduation, he decided to stay in the Bay Area to pursue a full-time job.
Skyler has utilized the knowledge he gained from his instructors in the program to successfully transition into a sustainable career. He now works full time as a line cook at the Peninsula Italian American Social Club, making $16 per hour.
Working in such a fast-paced environment, Skyler is applying everything from his knife skills to cleaning and sanitation in order to ensure that he is an impactful team member in the kitchen.
“I have been able to use the independent-living skills that I gained from Job Corps in the real world,” Skyler said.
