Tiffany Middleton

March 15, 2021

Before arriving at the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center, Tiffany Middleton had faced many hardships and she’d always had to push herself. But by the time she graduated from Job Corps, Tiffany was leaving with a lot more than a diploma.

While in the Security training area at the Perkins Job Corps Center, Tiffany also found the time to proudly serve as the president of the Student Government Association. She was also the president of her dorm and even earned 13 nationally recognized credentials withing her training area all in her short time there.

Following graduation in 2017, she began her career in the correctional field at Core Civic in Brentwood, Tenn. After deciding she wanted to return to her native South Carolina, she landed a job in her hometown at the Beaufort County Detention Center, where she is still employed today.

Though she had already earned her credentials from Job Corps, Tiffany felt called to continue her education in security, and in July of 2020 she graduated from the basic detention training program at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. She is now a certified Class 2 law enforcement officer. Tiffany proudly completed the training near the top of her class.

Tiffany attributes her career success to what she learned while enrolled in the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center. When reflecting on all that she has accomplished over the past few years, Tiffany said, “Because of my Job Corps training and certificates, my employers started me at a higher wage. Job Corps gave me a routine, motivation, structure, discipline, focus, and goals, and increased my communication and public speaking skills.” Job Corps gave her an intangible reward too: “They also molded me to be able to pursue my dreams. I’ve trained, worked, and continued to pursue my education thanks to my Job Corps experience.”

“Take advantage of everything Job Corps has to offer, keep an open mind, and participate in leadership opportunities; they will instill value and integrity in you.”
