When
first arrived at the Gulfport Job Corps Center, he was determined to better himself. He immediately began pursuing his goals to find a purpose and jumpstart his career.
Tre was born in Naples, Italy, and grew up in a military family that was always traveling from one place to the next. As he got older, he found himself unhappy with the way his life was turning out. He worked odd jobs to get by and had no clear direction for his future. That is when he heard about Job Corps.
Shortly after arriving at the Gulfport campus, Tre enrolled in the medical administrative assistant training area. But he did not stop there. Once he had completed his training, he earned the opportunity to pursue advanced training with the Transportation Communications Union/IAM at the Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center. Through advanced training, Tre continued to gain more hands-on experience before entering the professional world.
“Once I learned about the program, I knew this would be a great opportunity for me. The program representatives treated me kindly. They gave me a check for my first month’s rent and money for food. I received that incentive, in addition to my Job Corps completion funds. I am very excited and thankful!”
Tre found his purpose, just as he set out to do, and on March 2, 2020, Tre began a job with GATX as a railcar mechanic in Yazoo City, Miss.
