Victor Watkins, a native of Birmingham, Ala., always had a love for building and understanding how things are assembled. Victor knew Job Corps was the place for him when he heard that the program would allow him to exercise his creative talent. A friend who had completed the program encouraged him to go to Job Corps, knowing how well the program would serve him.
“My friend knew that Job Corps would be the best thing for me, and he was right. Job Corps gave me the skills and confidence to be able to do what I want to do in life, and become successful,” Victor said.
While attending the Montgomery Job Corps Center, Victor earned his high school diploma and completed his Material Handling training. After graduating Job Corps, Victor was hired at the Big Lots warehouse distributor, where he has been working for a year and a half. He serves as an exemplary employee and always goes above and beyond what’s expected of him.
